Bayou Dorcheat North of Dixie Inn My recent trip up the bayou from Dixie Inn was scenic and refreshing and even though the water is very low Mother Nature is still making great waves here with her awesome beauty. Cypress trees seem much larger as the low water shows off their massive bottom bells and drift wood of all size and shape line the shores between the cypress knees. Pulling the kayak through the shallow rapids provided a good time for exploring shorelines and cooling off. Huckleberries were along the shore in some places and their unique taste was wonderful. Wildlife was always within site, mostly birds and water fowl were the usual attraction. An occasional swim kept the heat at bay. The trip back south to the bridge was relaxing and at times pure fun going through the rapids. The next Outdoor Adventure will be Kayaking South from Dixie Inn to the Sibley/Doyline Boat Ramp.
